FAQs

  • How much does a puppy cost?
(2024/25 Litter) $2000 per puppy. If you need us to transport your puppy to you, that will be an additional charge.
  • How do I sign up for a puppy?
Fill out the puppy application (link below), and if we agree that you are a good fit for a Vizsla, we will put you on our list! Once we have a confirmed pregnancy, we will accept deposits ($500). When the puppies are 5 weeks old, families with deposits will choose their puppies in the order of deposits received.
  • Will my puppy be registered?
Your puppy will come with AKC registration papers for you to fill out and submit if you so desire. Our puppies will come with full registration unless we observe some deviation from the breed standard, in which case we will provide a limited (non-breeding) registration.
  • When can I pick my puppy?
We will help families pick their puppy between 5 and 8 weeks of age. Puppy picking will happen in the order of deposits received, and we will do our best to help you with descriptions of each puppy's personality and characteristics as we observe them.
  • How do I collect my puppy?
We are located in Springfield, Missouri. We encourage you to come and pick your puppy up personally at 8-10 weeks of age. If you want us to transport your puppy to you, we will work out details on an individual basis, either for ground transport (preferred) or air transport to your nearest airport. Cost will depend on the arrangements, but you can plan on about $300 - $600 in transportation cost.
  • What Health Guarantee do you offer?
We will guarantee that your puppy is healthy at the time of purchase, and will send him or her home with a veterinary certification of health and an up-to-date vaccination and worming record. We will also guarantee that the puppy will be free from major disease or deformity for two years after purchase. If you have a major problem within that time, we will refund your money or replace the dog with one from a future litter as soon as possible.
  • How are the puppies raised?
Lucy and Pax are family dogs. They live in our home and interact with our whole family daily. Their puppies will be raised in our home, and will be handled and socialized intentionally from the beginning. They will be familiar with children and people, have some experience in the water, in the car, and in other various settings. They will be up to date on all routine veterinary care (Tail and dewclaws, vaccinations and worming).
  • What if my puppy or older dog isn't working out?
We believe that when you buy a dog, responsibility for that dog is fully yours, and that you will probably be the best person to find your dog a fitting home if your situation changes and the dog cannot stay with you. However, we want to be of assistance when any of our dogs' families face challenges. Feel free to contact us at any time for advice and support. We will do everything that we feel is reasonably within our power to be helpful and to keep all of our dogs out of shelters and in stable, happy homes.
  • What is the Vizsla bred for?
The Vizsla is a Hungarian pointer/ retriever. It is famous for its intensity and intelligence as a hunting dog, and its docile, affectionate nature in the home. Vizslas have excelled in many disciplines: Hunting, Agility, Biking and Running companions, Guide and service dogs, among others. They are high energy, with stamina for long active days. When provided with sufficient outlet for this energy, they are fantastic companions in the home. Aptly called the 'velcro dog,' the Vizsla is an avid snuggler, and when home it is happiest nestled against its person.
  • What kind of home is a poor fit for a Vizsla?
Busy, working adults who leave the dog alone most of the time will probably not find the Vizsla a good fit. The high energy of the Vizsla will require an outlet. Vizslas who are left alone most of the week can and do turn to destructive behavior as an outlet. Your dog will need interaction, training, and activity. Activity can include: kids to play with, another dog, space for off-leash exploring, hunting, playtimes, running, or biking. We find that our Lucy starts to feel pent up and restless when we are gone for multiple full days in a row. She needs exercise, but missing her run is less stressful to her than missing her people. We kennel her for most of the day twice a week, and she thrives, but when we get really busy we can tell she feels it.
  • What kind of home is a good fit for a Vizsla?
A home with regular, daily interaction is a good fit. If you work from home, stay at home with children, have another dog for your Vizsla to tussle with, regularly run or bike distances, hunt, hike, explore, or need a service dog, you're a likely candidate. Vizslas are very versatile, as long as they have attention and an outlet for their high energy.
